How this site was made

Hand-built static HTML, CSS and JavaScript. There's no tracking and no build server. All games run locally in your browser, and scores stay on your device. The live ISS position comes from the public wheretheiss.at API. Map outlines come from Natural Earth (public domain).

Links: all 159 outbound links were loaded in a real browser in October 2026. A handful (neal.fun sub-pages, Etymonline, Old Maps Online, Improbable Research) show a bot check to automated visitors but load normally for people.

Facts: every statistic links to its source. Rabbit-hole and trivia summaries are drawn from the linked Wikipedia articles. Surname data comes from Forebears and KdeJsme.cz (Czech Interior Ministry data). The Mark page is openly whimsical.

Left out because they couldn't be verified

• Forebears states US Martineks “rose 3,087%” from 1880 to 2014, but its own counts (77 → 2,377) work out to about +2,987%. We show the raw counts instead.
• Any documented coat of arms granted to a Martinek family: none found.
• Ellis Island arrival counts specifically for the Martinek surname: no reliable published figure found.
• Claims about early individual Czechs in America marked “citation needed” on Wikipedia.
